What is Rodent? Latin words: rodere = gnaw and dentis = teeth All rodents have a pair of incisors that grow throughout their life – 0.3 to 0.4 mm/ day. Rats and mice make themselves comfortable in human surrounding, finding food and shelter in our homes. They breed rapidly and contaminate food, damage clothes and other materials. They spread diseases such as plauge, leptospirosis, murine typhus and rat bite fever.
Types of Rodent
Rodents Management
The best way to manage rodents is to limit food, water, shelter and access to the premises
Sanitation measures
Rodent proofing
Population control
How rodents enter the house
Population control can be done mainly by two ways
Trapping
We can use different kinds of traps to control rodents that are indoors, like glue boards, snap traps, multiple- catch traps, and wire cages. We use a special plastic tray with non-toxic glue that is designed specifically to catch rodents and mice. It can be placed outside in damp or wet areas where rats are known to move around. Rats can accidentally walk into the tray and get caught.
Baiting
We employ a natural method to eradicate rodents, which is free from harmful chemicals. This method is based on a combination of ground maize and wheat, along with a sweet molasses attractant. It proves to be effective, even in cases where rodent populations have developed resistance to traditional anticoagulants.
